Hi, my name is Adam Hoffman and I am IT Infrastructure Manager.
I'm with Mercury for eight years.
Mercury is the biggest engineering company in Ireland
with a lot of operations based outside of Ireland, so we operate
as well in UK
in Poland, in mainland Europe
and recently as well in Scandinavia, in Sweden.
Our main focus is to provide protection to computers which are based
outside of our corporate network, outside of our LAN.
Like a lot of the companies these days, we have a lot of
employees working outside of our corporate network from different
locations using a public Wi-Fi, using twitch networks, etcetera.
So we have to make sure that those computers are covered.
Hi, my name is Fiona Garland
I'm the Business Analyst for Mercury Engineering and Group IT.
As a company, our information is
100 percent vital to us being successful.
As a construction company we are reliant on winning tenders in order to get jobs.
The commercial information, the tender information, anything relating to estimation
is 100% key to us winning jobs and continuing to make business.
With that it's absolutely important
that that information remains protected
all of the time.
Before we started using ESET we had a number of issues
with the previous solutions.
Some of them worth mentioning, the back end of the previous solution was very
difficult to manage, required professional services to do anything with it.
And the monitoring
and management functionality of the solution was very limited,
especially when endpoints were not based inside of our network,
the solution was not able to stop a lot of malware infections.
And as well, we had some incidents
with an outbreak that could not be stopped
with the previous solution.
Initially in 2010 we were introduced to ESET via our Polish office.
They deployed endpoint security
to 200 computers in the Polish office, and in 2011 we received
excellent feedback from our Polish colleagues.
As a result, in our head office here in Dublin, we decided to
implement ESET across our entire company,
and cross the entire group, making sure that all of our computer endpoints
and our servers were protected.
The implementation process was very straightforward,
very quick. And pretty much it was
a one person, one of our system administrators
looking after the entire process of implementing the solution
with little bit of a technical support
from ESET Ireland. The entire solution relies
from the back end point of view on one small
virtual machine, one CPU 4 Gig of RAM,
nothing special. And that one virtual machine
supports the full management capability for a thousand endpoints and 100 servers.
The key thing to highlight is that
any solution now
has to be a real-time solution
You can't rely on pretty much on reports, you have to be able to respond.
For us, ESET is protecting at the minute just over 1,000 computers
and 200 servers across a number of different countries.
So our staff are logging into our company network
by a number of different public networks and we need to make sure
that absolutely all of our computers are protected at every point in time.
ESET is the right choice for us
as we've found it has a strong technical advantage
over other products in the marketplace.
It's definitely affordable and it's absolutely
low maintenance. It runs quietly and quickly in the background
and we do a lot of the updates ourselves.
It's really easy to manage, and it means that we are able to do the updates, and
on any occasion when we are unable to do so,
which actually hasn't happened,it would just be a quick phone call
to ESET Ireland and we would be back up and running.
The biggest thing that stands out is its strong technical advantage
over other products in the marketplace
this is where ESET really excels
and it stands on its own.
ESET has definitely validated our trust - and to support it
we have a 4 year track record of
not having any malware or
virus-related incidents, so it's pretty much
what it did for us.
I would definitely recommend ESET
to all similar companies - construction engineering companies.
The main reasons should be that most of the
construction companies these days
have very mobile workforce, people with laptops
not based in one office, based in different locations,
which is one of the strongest components of ESET. And this is why I would
for similar companies.
